Facilities & Equipment
The Department of Film & Media Arts is home to a range of state-of-the-art production and teaching facilities where students learn the history, theory, and practice of moving image arts. These include working soundstages, screening rooms, a computer lab equipped with industry-standard systems and software, and dedicated facilities for animation, color grading, and 16mm production, as well as spaces for students to gather, work, and collaborate.
Equipment Checkout
Our Equipment Checkout houses a broad range of modern camera, grip, electrical, and sound equipment. Students enrolled in a Film & Media Arts production course or applicable College of Fine Arts course may checkout equipment. Film and media equipment is specific to individual course needs.
All equipment reservations are through Connect2.
If you do not have a Connect2 account set up, please attempt a login and then email Jen (jenni.humphreys@utah.edu) or Liam (liam.howard@utah.edu) and they can finish setup from there.
Green Office Initiative
Offices are a great places for teamwork, participation, and innovation. Departments and offices on campus represent a large portion of energy and material use, and production of waste on campus. Green Office Certification is a great tool for colleges and departments across campus to use that provides guidance and tools to help students, staff, and faculty adopt sustainable choices in the workplace that are good for people now and the generation to come.
