“Writing and Producing for Television” with Steven Banks

Tuesday, March 9, 1-4PM.

Join writer and producer Steven Banks for this interactive introduction to writing and producing for television. Learn how storylines are developed, and how the script for a single episode can impact a season. Participants will be required to read four scripts in advance. Steven Banks is a 30-year veteran of the film industry, creating and producing content across multiple platforms. Steven is best known as the screenwriter of the Are We There Yet, and has sold an additional 13 films to major studies and 7 television pilots to major broadcast networks.

“Breaking into the Biz in Hollywood” with Heidi Banks 

Wednesday, March 10, 1-3PM.

Thinking about moving to Los Angeles, but don’t know where to start? This workshop will provide you with a virtual map of the entertainment industries in Southern California, and provide you with tools and strategies for getting your foot in the door. Heidi Heller Banks created and ran successful entertainment internship programs at Northwestern University and the University of Utah, and has lectured widely at other leading universities.

The Film Industry in Utah

Friday, March 12, 1-3PM.

Join a panel of professional and emerging talent in the Utah film industry. Learn how some industry professionals got their start and why they chose to stay, live, and work in Utah. This discussion will be moderated by costume designer Carolyne Leone (Yellowstone, Dwight in Shining Armor, Andi Mack) and followed by a Q&A.

Utah Film Commission Production Assistant Certification Program

Monday March 8, 5-9PM.

For those new to the industry, the Production Assistant Certification is a great first step to learn more about working on Utah film, television, and commercial sets. Developed with the Utah Film Commission, the course is taught by experienced 1st ADs and production experts.
